What is Juvéderm?

One of the earliest and most obvious signs of aging on the face are line, wrinkles, and decreased volume. Juvéderm is a popular injectable wrinkle filler made with stabilized hyaluronic acid (HA) to act like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to normal aging or other reasons. The Juvéderm gel filler also attracts moisture molecules to the surface of the skin to hydrate the skin and keep it looking fresh and supple. While each formula of Juvéderm HA fillers varies in their targeted area of use, both provide safe and long-lasting results. Juvéderm XC is great for diminishing nasolabial folds and marionette lines, plus adding volume to the lips. Juvéderm Ultra XC is best for adding volume and projection to the lips. At Alford Facial Plastic Surgery in Houston, TX double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Eugene "Gene" Alford offers both formulas of Juvéderm plus other wrinkle fillers and relaxers to help you get your best results.

Procedure Info

A Juvéderm treatment at Alford Facial Plastic Surgery typically takes about 45 minutes, but this varies based on the number of areas being treated. Juvéderm Ultra XC includes a numbing gel in the formula, so while you may feel the initial prick, you should become comfortable as the anesthetic effects set in. If you are concerned about pain, ask Dr. Gene about applying a topical anesthetic on the treatment areas before the injections.

Recovery

Juvéderm treatments are performed as an in-office procedure by Dr. Gene in his Houston, TX office. You will be able to leave immediately after your injection and resume your normal activities, but strenuous activities like exercise should be avoided for a few days. Most patients need about 1 – 2 days for recovery from swelling, redness, and bruising around the injection site, but makeup should be able to conceal this pretty well until it has healed. Dr. Gene advises patients to follow up in 6 weeks so he can check their results and determine when they should schedule another treatment to maintain their results.

Results

Some results will be visible right away, but over time, Juvéderm treatments will make your skin smoother, firmer, and fresher for continued benefits. Juvéderm results can last up to 1 year, but this will vary in each patient, so you should schedule an appointment when you begin to see your results fading. Dr. Gene can help you determine how often you should have touch-up treatments.

What Does Juvederm Cost?

A Juvéderm treatment is priced based on how many units or syringes are used, but most patients spend between $600 - $1,800 on a single session. Dr. Gene can go over cost estimates during your initial consultation after understanding your concerns and needs. Dr. Gene is an official doctor of the Allergan Brilliant Distinctions® reward program that gives you exclusive savings and discounts on Juvéderm injections, as well as Voluma®, BOTOX®, Kybella®, and Latisse® treatments.
